Listening Tables

Listening Tables is a creative tool that allows a mixed group of participants to practice listening skills, bringing explicit awareness to the ways in which group dynamics are affected by patterns of systemic power and privilege.

Following the first phase of the project, a series of nine in-depth interviews have been conducted with participants, specifically exploring the Listening Tables’ potential for societal change.

In parallel to this, lead researcher Rajni Shah (Amsterdam University of the Arts) has been working in collaboration with Luis Sotelo Castro (Concordia University, Canada) and Leah Bassel (Coventry University, UK) to develop a book proposal in order to disseminate their research.

Second phase and dissemination

This project is made up of three distinct but interrelated parts:

• Writing up and analysing the interviews that have been conducted during the first phase of the project;
• Conducting a second phase of the project for students and researchers from the AHK, HvA, and
  partner academies, in collaboration with HvA researcher (Imaginaries Lab) Esther Aminata Kamara;
• Dissemination, to include sharing the research as a Key Enabling Methodology during the next phase
  of SPRONG, and developing book proposals.
