Sommigen zien AI nog steeds als een bedreiging voor creativiteit. Tijdens dit event hebben we creatieve makers uitgenodigd die AI juist zien als een krachtige creatieve partner. We zullen projecten presenteren die in samenwerking met AI zijn ontwikkeld en samen met een panel van experts en met jóu verkennen we hoe de toekomst van creativiteit eruit zou kunnen zien.
Ook nemen we je mee in de nieuwste ontwikkelingen op het gebied van responsible AI-initiatieven die publieke waarden en menselijke creativiteit vooropzetten. Deze ontwikkelingen openen nieuwe manieren om met AI samen te werken en laten zien hoe technologie creativiteit kan versterken terwijl de mens de drijvende kracht achter het creatieve proces blijft.

Over de sprekers
Christian Byrge is professor aan de Universiteit van Vilnius, keynote-spreker en auteur van diverse boeken over creativiteit, creatief denken en teamcreativiteit. Zijn onderzoek richt zich op de manier waarop AI de menselijke verbeeldingskracht, nieuwsgierigheid, originaliteit en probleemoplossend vermogen kan versterken.
Marleen Stikker is oprichter, directeur en bestuurder van Waag Futurelab in Amsterdam. Waag Futurelab stimuleert kritische reflectie op technologie, ontwikkelt vaardigheden op het gebied van technologisch en sociaal ontwerp en bevordert sociale innovatie. Marleen geeft leiding aan het transdisciplinaire team van ontwerpers, kunstenaars en wetenschappers, waarbij ze gebruikmaakt van Public Research en Key Enabling Methodologies om mensen te laten deelnemen aan het collectieve ontwerp van een open, eerlijke en inclusieve toekomst.

Inte Gloerich is onderzoeker bij het Visual Methodologies Collective aan de Hogeschool van Amsterdam. In haar werk onderzoekt Inte op kritische en creatieve wijze de raakvlakken tussen opkomende technologieën, cultuur en macht. Haar werk slaat een brug tussen theoretisch onderzoek en participatieve en creatieve methoden om technologie te verkennen vanuit een dekoloniale, feministische en ecologische invalshoek. Ze is gepromoveerd in mediastudies aan de Universiteit Utrecht op een proefschrift over de voorstellingen van waarheid in blockchain. Momenteel is ze postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij het Slow AI-project, dat tot doel heeft kritische, ethische en duurzame relaties met AI te bevorderen en alternatieve heden en toekomsten met deze technologieën te verkennen.
Dasha Simons Dasha is gefascineerd door de relatie tussen mensen en AI. In haar PhD onderzoekt ze hoe AI en video ons leven en de manier waarop we naar de wereld kijken veranderen. Daarnaast werkt ze bij IBM, waar ze organisaties helpt om op een goede en verantwoorde manier met AI om te gaan. Ook vanuit de Responsible Technology Board denkt ze mee over hoe we AI verantwoord kunnen ontwikkelen. In alles wat ze doet brengt Dasha onderzoek, design en de praktijk samen. Ze houdt van moeilijke vragen en maakt ze graag begrijpelijk, eerlijk en soms zelfs leuk.
Max Helmantel, Stijn Smit & Caesar Schoorl. Drie jonge makers en oud-studenten van de opleiding AD Smart Media aan de Hogeschool van Amsterdam onderzoeken hoe AI ons niet alleen sneller kan laten werken, maar ons ook kan helpen bewuster te creëren. Ze zijn de oprichters van Kaires en lopen momenteel een deel van de Camino de Santiago als onderdeel van hun project Back to Being voor de MIND Foundation. Onderweg gebruiken ze AI en spraakbesturing om een app te ontwikkelen voor de MIND Foundation. Hun experiment draait om een eenvoudige vraag: “Als technologie steeds meer voor ons kan doen, wat is er dan nog écht de moeite waard om zelf te creëren?” Meer over hun reis en het project lees je in dit artikel van Trouw.
Kseniia Saraieva is AI-filmmaker, curator en onderzoeker. Ze onderzoekt hoe generatieve AI de creativiteit, het auteurschap en onze perceptie van kunst verandert. In haar praktijk combineert ze experimentele film met onderzoek naar hoe het publiek reageert op door AI gegenereerd en door mensen gemaakt werk, en hoe kennis over het auteurschap van invloed is op esthetische oordelen. Ze is de oprichter van Art Beyond Creator, een doorlopend onderzoeks- en tentoonstellingsproject over de perceptie van AI-kunst. Daarnaast is ze curator van Do You Like to Use Me?, een project dat menselijke-AI-relaties, handelingsvrijheid en controle onderzoekt. Haar werk is internationaal gepresenteerd binnen artistieke, filmische en academische contexten.

Tessa Mei Duzee is onderzoeker en docent digitale technologie en ethiek aan de Hogeschool van Amsterdam, bedenker van de Ethical Toolkit en ontwikkelaar van een online cursus over AI, ethiek en recht voor professionals in de creatieve industrie.

Some still view AI as a threat to creativity. For this event, we have invited creative makers who, on the contrary, see AI as a powerful creative partner. We will present projects developed in collaboration with AI and, together with a panel of experts and with you, we will explore what the future of creativity might look like.
We will also take you through the latest developments in responsible AI initiatives that prioritise public values and human creativity. These developments open up new ways of collaborating with AI and demonstrate how technology can enhance creativity whilst humans remain the driving force behind the creative process.

About the speakers
Christian Byrge is a professor at Vilnius University, a keynote speaker and the author of several books on creativity, creative thinking and team creativity. His research focuses on how AI can enhance human imagination, curiosity, originality and problem-solving skills.
Marleen Stikker is the founder, director and board member of Waag Futurelab in Amsterdam. Waag Futurelab encourages critical reflection on technology, develops skills in the fields of technological and social design, and promotes social innovation. Marleen leads the transdisciplinary team of designers, artists and scientists, utilising Public Research and Key Enabling Methodologies to enable people to participate in the collective design of an open, fair and inclusive future.
Panel discussion with:
Inte Gloerich is a researcher at the Visual Methodologies Collective at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. In her work, Inte critically and creatively explores the intersections of emerging technologies, culture, and power. Her work bridges theoretical inquiry with participatory and creative methods to explore technology through decolonial, feminist, and ecological lenses. She has a PhD in Media Studies from Utrecht University on blockchain imaginaries of truth. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher in the Slow AI project, which aims to foster critical, ethical, and sustainable relationships with AI and speculate alternative presents and futures with these technologies.
Dasha Simons is fascinated by the relationship between people and AI. In her PhD, she explores how AI and video are changing our lives and the way we see the world. Alongside her research, she works at IBM, helping organisations think about how to use AI in thoughtful and responsible ways. She also contributes to the Responsible Technology Board, where she helps shape how we develop AI responsibly. Across her work, Dasha brings together research, design and real-world experience. She enjoys asking difficult questions, and making them easier to understand, talk about and, sometimes, even enjoy.
Max Helmantel, Stijn Smit & Caesar Schoorl. Three young creators and former AD Smart Media production students at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, exploring how AI can help us not only work faster, but also create more mindfully. They are the founders of Kaires and are currently walking part of the Camino de Santiago as part of their project Back to Being for the MIND foundation. Along the way, they are using AI and voice control to build an app for the MIND Foundation. Kseniia Saraieva is an AI filmmaker, curator and researcher exploring how generative AI is reshaping creativity, authorship and our perception of art. Her practice combines experimental filmmaking with research into how audiences respond to AI-generated and human-made work, and how knowledge of authorship influences aesthetic judgement. She is the founder of Art Beyond Creator, an ongoing research and exhibition project on the perception of AI art, and curator of Do You Like to Use Me?, exploring human-AI relationships, agency and control. Her work has been presented internationally across artistic, film and academic contexts.

AI as a Creative Thinking Partner
Recent research shows that AI chatbots can be remarkably powerful in helping us discover new perspectives, challenge familiar assumptions, and generate those “why haven’t we thought of this before?” ideas.
But the real potential of AI may not emerge simply by asking it for answers. We may need to learn not only how to ask curious questions, but also how to facilitate a creative dialogue with AI where AI becomes a curious, challenging, and supportive thinking partner that expands our imagination rather than replacing it. This kind of creative dialogue requires us, as humans, to take responsibility for intuition, intention, critical thinking, and judgement in ways we may not be used to.
In this thought-provoking keynote, Christian Byrge, PhD and Full Professor at Vilnius University, explores how AI can be used as a “friend” in the creative process to strengthen the quality, originality, and depth of creative problem-solving. At the same time, the keynote addresses one of the most important questions of the AI age: how do we remain intrinsically motivated, deeply engaged, and in control of the creative process when AI becomes an active partner in our thinking?
